Best Shaving Cream for Sensitive Skin

Best Shaving Cream for Sensitive Skin

Some people have Eczema, others have dry skin, and some people have sensitivity to shaving products such as shaving cream.

It doesn't matter if you have Acne, extremely dry skin, or other conditions.  The following information will help provide you a better shave to counteract your sensitive skin.

The Best shaving cream for sensitive skin has the following characteristics.

1.)  Alcohol Free

2.)  Fragrance Free

3.)  Ingredients that moisturize the skin

4.)  No artificial dyes or colors

The cooler months are notorious for drying out sensitive skin and it leaves your skin dry with flaky patches all over the place.  Nobody likes dandruff looking flakes when they don't have dandruff.

Some people deal with sensitive skin all year round and others just during the cooler winter months.  It really doesn't matter who you are.  If your skin just doesn't agree with some products then you need to start thinking about what you are putting on your skin.

When shaving most people use canned shaving cream or shaving gel. Both of these products are typically in aerosol containers and if you read the laundry list of ingredients you'll likely see alcohol.

There are pros and cons of Alcohol.  Alcohol is an astringent (good to prevent infection) and causes drying (bad for drying out) sensitive skin.  You'll need to consider replacing the aerosol cans for something without the alcohol.

The next thing to consider is the fragrance.  Everyone loves smelling good, but if that fragrance leaves you with red bumps that irritate your skin it's probably not worth it.

Start with fragrance free shaving cream.  This will help eliminate the concern of fragrances causing any irritation.  If you like to smell nice you can always add cologne to your clothes later if you need to have a nice aroma

Ingredients that moisturize the skin

There are a variety of ingredients that will moisturize your skin.  Most of these ingredients are oils such as jojoba oil, avocado oil, grapeseed oil, castor oil, etc.  Oil usually translate into moisture

Look for oil or butter in the ingredients and if you see either it is likely an ingredient that will help moisturize your skin.

No artificial dyes or colors

If the product you are using has a color swirl in it then there are likely artificial dyes in it.  Avoid these as they are known to cause reactions to some people.  Just go to youtube and search for hair color dye reactions and you'll see what we mean.

Whatever the reason artificial dyes create crazy reactions with some people.

What products do we carry for sensitive skin?

At this time we do not have any shaving cream or shave soap that meets all of the above criteria, although we will likely have such a product in the near future.

The best shaving cream for sensitive skin that we carry is actually a shave soap.  It doesn't meet all of the above criteria, however it is alcohol free, moisturizes the skin, and is artificial color and dye free.
