There are many reasons that you might be thinking about shaving your head, but one of the most popular reasons to shave your head is when you start going bald.
This happened to me in my early twenties. My hair started thinning gradually and got worse over time. I wore hats most of the time so I didn't have to deal with the balding, but I realized I couldn't cover it up forever. I refused to use medicine to try and regrow it and I knew that I would never consider a wig, toupee, or comb over. I had to take control.
One night I decided that I had enough and that I was going to shave my head. I took electric clippers and gazed in the mirror trying to decide how I could make this major move. I had no idea what my head would like like bald, but I knew it had to look better than the receding hairline that I was sporting. It was time to shave my head and the best way to commit myself was to shave it right down the middle, so I did.
After the reverse mowhawk I had to shave the rest of my head. The final product was quite impressive. I couldn't believe that I had been trying to hold on to my hair that had been trying to leave my head for so long.
At first I felt like everyone was looking at me and thinking why did you shave your head, but I soon realize that nobody cared but me. Once I realized that I was in control of the situation and it felt great. Sure you get the occasional bald joke here and there, but you quickly learn that the look of a bald man that shaves his head is much better than the bald guy that is trying to hold on to the last strands of hair.
If you are starting to bald and wondering when to shave your head, the answer is probably now. I know it is a scary thought, but I promise once you do it you will never go back. I have been shaving my head for the past 10 years and never want hair again. If some miracle drug came tomorrow that promised a full head of hair I would not be interested.

I started balding when I was only in my early 20s. I put up with a receding hair line for years, but when was in my 50s I decided to shave my head. I am so glad I did. I look better than I did with hair only on the sides & back & only wish I had done it years ago. .
